FROM WHEELCHAIR TO RACE CAR
DREAMS COME TRUE ON RACE TRACK AT STEEL CITY MAGIC

FAIRFIELD, New Jersey (April 18, 2010) – For most auto racing enthusiasts getting behind the wheel of a stock car would seem little more than a day dream. However, this classic reverie is not one the physically disabled could entertain. Until now.

Accessible Racing, the nation’s first and only, “arrive and drive” adaptive race car experience is coming to "Steel City Magic", at Beaver Run Motorsports Complex on May 20-21.

For two action-packed days wheelchair users will have the chance to experience the adrenaline-fueled rush of race car driving.

Accessible Racing specializes in providing both driving and racing experiences for those who likely wondered if they’d ever drive again. Brian Hanaford, founder of Accessible Racing, and Steel City Magic event coordinator, states, “The drivers gain confidence, and a sense of accomplishment, and get to taste the thrill of racing.”

Additionally all participants will be entered in a drawing giving them the chance to compete and perhaps win "The Great American Run", an 1,850-mile rally over the scenic but extremely challenging terrain of the Laguna Beach Ca, Hover Dam, and Las Vegas area.

Accessible Racing via the Steel City Magic Event will also showcase its cutting-edge rehabilitation technology called VXP The Next Generation. A brand new innovation for the disabled, the VXP combines video gaming technology with traditional rehabilitation practices. Using virtual reality drivers improve their motor skills as they prepare for either real life driving and/or the Accessible Racing experience.

Steel City Magic is made possible thanks to generous sponsorship from HOPE Network, a western Pennsylvania-based non-profit dedicated to offering sports, fitness and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities.
